New Connections
A property owner/developer that intends to connect to the Norristown sewer system or to modify its existing sewer connection must initially obtain and submit a Sewer Connection Application to the Norristown Municipal Waste Authority. Upon receipt of the Application, the Authority’s Consulting Engineer will notify the Contact Person listed on the Application and will provide information on the escrow amount to be sent to the Authority as well as any other documentation needed to initiate the review process. The property owner/developer is encouraged to check the Authority’s Standard Specifications and Details for Sewer Lateral Connections, Pipe Additions and Extensions to the Sanitary Sewer System to ensure that the construction plans for the units to be built conform to the Authority guidelines.
It should be noted that the sewer pipe on the property site may require a separate review of the Municipality of Norristown. The approval process is completely separate for the Municipality and the Authority, and the approval of one entity does not automatically result in the approval of the other.
The property owner/developer must pay the required escrow amount to the Authority in order to initiate the review process. The escrow is intended to cover any engineering, legal, and administrative costs associated with the review process. The escrow payment is not related to any tapping fees that will be assessed by the Authority prior to the approval of a connection to the Authority’s sewer system.
