Tapping Fees

The Norristown Municipal Waste Authority imposes upon any property connecting to any part of  the sewer system, a tapping fee, as specified by Act 57 of 2003 and in accordance with the Authority’s Fee Schedule, for each equivalent dwelling unit (EDU).

An EDU is generally defined as being 275 gallons per day. A single-family residence or dwelling, apartment or other living or household unit, whether classified as a townhouse, semi-detached dwelling, duplex, apartment or other classification is considered one (1) EDU irrespective of the flow attributable to the dwelling. In terms of a non-residential unit or facility, there are separate guidelines that are used by the Authority for determining the number of EDUs.

Additional information on tapping fees and EDUs, including criteria for requesting a reduced tapping fee, can be found in Article III of the Authority’s Rates, Rules and Regulations located in the Developer section of the website.
